Are you worried about how your droopy, tired eyes are making you look? Eyelid Reduction surgery may be the solution to brighten your appearance!
Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is a cosmetic procedure performed on the upper and/or lower eyelids to remove excess skin folds and bags. Eyelid surgery will not remove dark circles around the eyes, smile lines, crow’s feet or droopy eyebrows. These problems can be dealt with in other ways.
What does Eyelid surgery involve?
Eyelid reduction surgery will vary on the individual’s physical features and the amount of skin and fat to be removed from the area. Wherever possible, incisions are made along natural lines, so that scars are less visible. Following the removal of fat and excess skin, the incisions are closed using a fine suture that is removed between four to five days and ten days.
What results can I expect after treatment?
A successful procedure will give you a youthful and relaxed appearance. Excess fat will be removed and creases in the eyelids improved. Bruising and swelling may occur around the area and will dissipate within 2-3 weeks of surgery. As the incisions heal they should eventually fade to fine lines. Your surgeon will discuss with you any precautions you need to take after your surgery.
Most patients will return to work 7-10 days after treatment. Cosmetics can be applied after this period and it is advised to wear sunglasses to protect your skin from any further sun damage.
