Dr Julie Lawrence FRACS
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon
Dr Julie Lawrence is the Medical Director of the Brighton Day Surgery.
She graduated from Adelaide University in 1982 and trained initially at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre. She commenced her training in Plastic Surgery at Christchurch (NZ) before undergoing further specialist training overseas in England and the United States.
In 1992, Dr Lawrence was admitted as a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in the division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr Lawrence currently holds appointments as a Senior Visiting Medical Officer at the Repatriation General Hospital and lectures and mentors medical students for the Onkaparinga Clinical Education Program through the Flinders University. She is also a facilitator for The Australian and New Zealand Surgical Skills Education and Training Program and is a consultant in hand surgery at Flinders Medical Centre.
Dr Lawrence has extensive experience in breast surgery, including, breast reduction and breast augmentation. She is also experienced in abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and liposuction (body sculpturing) as well as facial plastic surgery, including face and neck lifts, nose surgery and eyelid surgery.
Dr Lawrence also performs surgery to correct prominent ears, and has a special interest in hand and wrist surgery and all aspects of skin cancer surgery.

About Doctor Marks
Dr Marks is a cosmetic and laser physician with an interest in the non- surgical treatment of varicose and spider veins.
She has more than 10 years experience in the field of Cosmetic medicine including use of cutaneous lasers for pigment and vascular conditions. She also has significant experience in skin rejuvenation with fractional resurfacing lasers.
She is trained in advanced techniques using cosmetic injectable products.
Dr Marks is married with 3 children and has an interest in photography.
Training and Qualifications
Dr Marks graduated from the Flinders University of South Australia in 1995 with degrees in Medicine and Surgery. She completed a medical internship in Adelaide, South Australia followed by resident medical officer training in Perth, Western Australia.
She returned to Adelaide for further training in both General and Plastic Surgery.
She has worked in Private medical practice for the past 12 years in the field of Cosmetic Medicine and Non-surgical management of Varicose Veins.
Dr Marks has a certificate in Dermatology from Monash University completed in 2003 and is a Certified Sclerotherapist with the Australasian College of Phlebology. She is currently involved in further training and medical education in the field of Phlebology (study of veins). She has a Certificate in Ultrasound completed in 2011.
Non-surgical management of varicose veins has become a more common and popular way of managing this condition over the past decade. Dr Marks has undergone training in this field and has performed several hundred ultrasound guided sclerotherapy and endovenous laser procedures.

Dr Angela Basedow MBBS FRCA FRANZCA
Dr Angela Basedow is one of the visiting anaesthetists at the Brighton Day Surgery.
Dr Basedow graduated from the University of Adelaide in 1987. Her anaesthetic training was obtained both in Adelaide and the United Kingdom. She has dual specialist qualifications in Anaesthesia for both Australia and the UK.
Dr Basedow has been a staff specialist in anaesthesia in both Portsmouth, UK and the Royal Adelaide Hospital. She now combines work in private practice with the Southern Group of Anaesthetic Specialists and is a staff specialist at the RAH. She has a broad range of interests including day surgery, sedation and plastic surgery.
